We had the opportunity to document Iris Bakker in action at a confirmation, where she created her distinctive "presence portraits" for the guests.

Iris' unique approach to portrait art is all about presence and the moment. She blind draws – meaning she paints while looking directly at the person rather than at the paper. This creates a special intimacy and authenticity, where each portrait captures the essence of the individual rather than a photographic representation.

It was fascinating to follow the process: the encounter between Iris and each guest, the concentration in her gaze, and the spontaneous portraits that emerged in the moment. A distinctive and memorable way to celebrate a confirmation.
